Dearest Shadow, I will always remember the first time I saw you. You literally stopped me in my tracks. I never dreamed in that moment that I would be lucky enough to have you in my life. I thought you were the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. It didn't take long, though, for me to realize that your beauty was so much more than what everyone could so obviously see on the outside. It was even more than I could have ever imagined during our first meeting. Your true beauty was your spirit. You had a kindness and a willingness unlike anything I had ever experienced before. No matter how I was feeling, or what difficulties I was facing, the mere sight of you made me smile. We had such confidence in each other, and no matter what we were doing, I knew we would manage together. Your joy for life was infectious, and taught me about how I wanted to live, and who I wanted to be. I still strive to be half the person you thought I was. Shadow, I never imagined that you would be taken from me so soon. I have lost so much more than my competiton partner, I have lost one of my best friends. You knew the real me, and accepted it whole-heartedly. I feel so blessed to have had you in my life, even if it was for only a short while. I will never forget what you have taught me. You looked out for me in life, and I hope you will stay with me forever. You are always in my heart. I will never forget you. Thanks for bringing me home. Goodbye my sweet, sweet boy, Sarah |
